'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an incredible recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
