Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
